If you want to replace planes and trucks over 1,000 kilometers you only have a couple passing stations and use the proven 600 km/h Japanese SC maglev.

If you want to use the slower Chinese maglev with many stations then that would be the cheapest.

It all depends on what you need.

Re: [IT] Maglev freight trains? FS and the port of Taranto think so

Unless they use Japanese SC maglev technology they will always be stuck with trucks like China because it is too slow to be economical.

Economic viability of SC maglev

The Japanese SC maglev will never be able to be sold as is because it is uneconomical without having an overnight container train to reduce the daytime fare below planes in big countries. It would need an international guideway showcased between Sydney and Melbourne designed by China with greater ex...

Re: The Shizuoka Water & Maglev Tunnel Problem

As China has much more experiance in overcoming water inrush how about getting them to help especially as Japan will never sell the SC maglev to big democratic countries and China would never be able to do 600 km/h with 1 cm clearance. The two countries need to work together with America to showcase...

At 120 km/h it is too slow to run overnight 1,000 km so it cannot subsidise daytime fares and remove planes.

Be better if China, Japan and America developed the Sydney/Melbourne overnight container maglev to international standard.

As overnight non stop 700 km/h overnight Japanese maglev trains in single 11 psi, 14 meter diameter tunnel earn enough to make daytime fares cheaper than planes it does not really matter if there are a couple of stops in a big city as the freight which you cannot use on HSR makes it economical.
