Re: 600km/h high-speed maglev to roll off in Qingdao

Big cities in big countries can never be connected with maglev trains in the daytime unless an overnight maglev container train is developed for international use preferably by Japan, China, America and Australia between Sydney and Melbourne. The container trains can go between freight sidings on th...

Sydney to Melbourne Maglev

Competition is good but sometimes cooperation is needed when something will be used internationally and as a Japanese maglev is too expensive just for passengers I suggest Japan, China and Australia cooperate to build a maglev from Sydney to Melbourne with passing stations at Canberra and Albury tha...

Re: Maglev versus Air travel between any two end points?

As Snowy 2 is being built to stabilise green power and high voltage DC power is all the go nowadays to connect green energy to where it is used, could 2 high voltage DC cables be put in the single tunnel between Sydney and Melbourne so whatever frequency is needed can be produced with a DC motor con...

The title of the report is quite blunt: Virgin Hyperloop’s mass layoffs and pivot to freight all but kill the dream of traveling by tube https://fortune.com/2022/02/22/virgin-hyperloop-layoffs-fires-staff-freight-tube-travel-richard-branson/ Accessed: 2022-02-22 To make it economically viable it ha...

Re: Maglev versus Air travel between any two end points?

The big problem with passenger maglev is the cost, but the daytime fare could be reduced below that of planes between Sydney and Melbourne saving 5,000,000 tonnes of jet fuel per year while reducing the 500,000 trucks per year and getting the freight to freight sidings 8 hours faster in an overnigh...

Re: Pods - hanging versus bottom levitation - pros and cons

For a start I think Hyperloop would never work but to make a train profitable it must have an overnight container train and this is much easier in tunnels as there is no weight limit.

Re: Outside view - in pods. Should be very easy, useful?

Japanese 700 km/h maglev is the only way to go in 11 psi breathable 14 meter diameter straight tunnels with no windows necessary.

China has a maglev mock up that goes just as fast.

Re: Just curious - a wheeled train through the tube

Sorry but it would be too slow for overnight container trains and too expensive to maintain in my opinion.

Re: Vacuum in the tube - methods?

In my opinion people would not travel in a small tube in a vacuum but if it is a Japanese maglev that does 700 km/h with overnight container trains to make it economical then I think they would with the cheap daytime daytime fares. To answer your question about removal of air I suggest if it is in a...

Re: Maglev - Frequent stoppages(intra city) versus non-stop long distance travel

As overnight non stop 700 km/h overnight Japanese maglev trains in single 11 psi, 14 meter diameter tunnel earn enough to make daytime fares cheaper than planes it does not really matter if there are a couple of stops in a big city as the freight which you cannot use on HSR makes it economical. Rega...

Re: Maglev versus Air travel between any two end points?

Thanks Parrahub1! Thank you mate. I have another couple of thoughts that have occurred to me and where high speed steel rail cannot have overnight container trains a Japanese maglev can earning at $1/kg up to $20,000,000 per night competing with planes and making the $60,000,000,000 tunnel viable w...
