Why an underground Japanese SC maglev? It enables a secure straight tunnel that is no more expensive than on the surface. This enables the overnight container trains to replace trucks as it has to go 600 km/h which is impossible with wheels. A single guideway between passing stations allows this spe...

In Australia we often have methane bubbles in our creeks but it is no big problem especially if the tunnel is well ventilated.

If you want to replace planes and trucks over 1,000 kilometers you only have a couple passing stations and use the proven 600 km/h Japanese SC maglev.

If you want to use the slower Chinese maglev with many stations then that would be the cheapest.

I agree it has to be fast enough to take an overnight container train to make it economically viable and you cannot get that with 1cm clearance.

But if they want to sell it they have to make an overnight container train to reduce the daytime fare and get half the trucks off the road.

Well if they developed a container train that reduced daytime fares below planes they could not only sell it to democries but it could easily remove the muck.

The Not In My Backyard NIMBYS are killing democrasies worldwide.

Just build an overnight container train that will make it economical in big democracies like America as their existing rail and planes are yesterday technology and put it on YouTube in English if you want to sell the tech overseas.

Well for a start the Japanese SC maglev has proven 600 km/h for ten years but it is parked while they extend the tunnel and 1,030 km/h is just BS.

I think they are worried about nothing as tunnels are safer than viaducts and Japan has the best saftey record in the world in stopping the train and it cannot fall off a viaduct anyway.

SC maglev is the future of train transport but it must have an overnight container train to reduce the daytime fare below planes but to go 700 km/h and prevent the surface problems it also must be done in a single 11 psi tunnel between big cities. My suggestion for the freight sidings is to make the...

While I do think Africa has tremendous future potential, unless the SC maglev can take an overnight container train which is faster and cheaper in a single tinnel between big cities I cannot see it as being economically viable for just passengers.
