Tube - Steel (why not RCC?)

Hi all, So, why RCC is not of interest as MOC for the tube? RCC might also have better strength in compression (external pressure, vacuum inside). Faster construction, reparability, reliability of construction(leakages, joints), lower side strength(weight of sections) - tension more important criter...

Hydrogen or LNG for propulsion of maglev trains - unviable?

Hi all, The reference below is for a hydrogen powered train. There may be others too. I wonder whether it is viable for maglev trains. I guess, pods in hyperloop will have many more issues than an open air maglev! Thanks. PS: https://www.alstom.com/sites/alstom.com/files/2021/01/25/20210125_PR_Europ...

Re: Pods - powered by batteries. Any alternatives?

So, fuel cell is also not a safe enough option, as yet?

Thanks IMB. Shall check soon. Besides, please share if any opinion is possible on use of combustion based systems for propulsion for maglev trains (a reference in the PS). Re: Power and energy requirement of a pod - peak and, say, kwh per 1000 km.

Hi Eurorapid! So, any idea what are the numbers for maglev, just in case you may have them? Do you think it can use a combustion based propulsion system? On speed of pods - wonder why you call it strange. I mean, do you foresee any problems or "not yet" hints at any problematic issues, unk...

Power and energy requirement of a pod - peak and, say, kwh per 1000 km.

Hi all, Just curious how much power and energy does a pod need - peak(kw), and kwh/1000 km? I understand that we need vacuum but is there any scope of using propulsion system similar to rockets, if not for passenger maybe for freight. Sure, there may be many problems with it. How much we need to car...

Pods - air or enriched oxygen?

Hi all,

Inside pods, what pros and cons do you foresee for air versus enriched oxygen ambience?

Thanks.

Pods - powered by batteries. Any alternatives?

Hi all,

Are batteries the only and safest option for pods? Any possibility of a fire hazard, especially with, I guess, limited oxygen available? Not possible to generate power on board by any means, maybe by use of the external magnetic field?

Thanks.

Re: Maglev technology for aircrafts - any possibility?

Thanks jok! So, it should be viable for land based aircrafts also - small passenger ones and jet fighters? Could you also indicate any pros and cons versus current system.

Best regards.

Hyperloop - pod design and dimensions - significant effect on tube sizing?

Hi all, Since Hyperloop will operate in a vacuum, is it not better if capsule is designed longer instead of two or more seats in a row - essentially one seat behind the other with a few in series, still in a single capsule. Each seat may also be like a bed, people can lie, nearly, instead of sitting...

Maglev for intercity goods transport

Hi all,

Is there any possibility that goods transport can use a maglev highway, say for inter city transport - source and destination hubs. Rest, within city, by trucks.

Thanks.

Air friction reduction - latest research on surface coatings?

Hi all,

I wonder what is the state of the art technology for surface coatings that can make drastic reduction in air friction in maglev trains? What is the future potential of such research?

Thanks.

Maglev technology for aircrafts - any possibility?

Hi all, Firstly, I am not from America but I had to choose the default to register. Please excuse for that. My query - Is there any possibility that maglev technology can be used for aircrafts, at least taking off, and for small aircrafts? If yes, what are the pros and cons? Thanks! PS: https://spec...
