A chance for a "strandrapid" in Northern Germany?

Unread post by mdrapid »

Moin moin,

Twelve months ago, the German Newspaper "Lübecker Nachrichten" had published an article with headline
"Fährt der 'Strandrapid“ bald an der Ostseeküste?'

http://www.ln-online.de/Nachrichten/Nor ... tseekueste

With the construction of the new railway line to the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel the "Bäderbahn" (baltic sea baths railway) between Lübeck between Lübeck and Neustadt in 2028 is to be discontinued. Timmendorfer Strand, for example, would then only be connected via a new station seven kilometres away at the Ratekau junction to the rail network. According to current plans, passengers have to take buses to the town.

Not only Timmendorfer Strand, but also other places feel out of touch with transport so that many people vote against this current planning. For that reason, the Minister of Economic Affairs, Transport, Employment, Technology and Tourism, Dr. Bernd Buchholz is looking for a for a better compensation, 'for a really modern mobility concept, that would make it possible to get around Lübecker Bucht (Lübeck Bay), perhaps also with a certain attraction'.

When he got information about the company Max Bögl, headquarted at Sengenthal, Bavaria, which is developing the
"Transport-System Bögl" maglev, he asked for a contact. Afterwards a team from the Multi Group, which also has a
wind turbine plant in Osterrönfeld near Rendsburg, presented the concept at the Ministry of Ministry of Economics.

A friend of me, named Horst, recently wrote a letter to the Minister of Economic Affairs, Transport, Employment, Technology and Tourism, Dr. Bernd Buchholz asking him three weeks ago.

Meanwhile the minister anwered him:

"Thank you very much for your praising and kind words. As you have already aptly stated, we are currently in the process of exploring the most innovative and possibly autonomous connection possible for the Bäderbahn line between Lübeck and Neustadt in Schleswig-Holstein. We have already been in contact with Max Bögl from Transport System Bögl in this regard to discuss the possibility of cooperation and scientific support.
From the point of view of the FDP, TSB is a prime example of technological openness, which we are therefore happy to include in our shortlist in Schleswig-Holstein..."

New technologies could also be a theme of coming federal election campaign of his party, he added.

I am curious to see how the story develops.

Excited to hear about future developments regarding this project. The last time this topic was publically mentioned was longer than a year ago.
