Two options for reviving TVE

Unread post by david »

The Transrapid test facility in Germany/Lathen (TVE) is currently very likely to be revived.

There are two options:

- Revival as European Hyperloop research center https://magnetbahn.org/news/hyperloop-i ... heinlicher
- Revival as CRRC600 MagLev test center https://magnetbahn.org/news/crrc-prueft ... ge-emsland

What would be your favorite revival option?

For more than ten years, operations at the Transrapid Test Facility Emsland (TVE) in Lathen have been at a standstill. Since then, a follow-up use has also been discussed. Three projects are currently on the shortlist for this.

"Spacetrain": French project Group interested in reviving the TVE

Unread post by david »

It turns out that a French project group is interested in reviving the former northern Germany Transrapid test facility.

Instagram-Posts even show Spacetrain employees have already visited the test facility: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQEEDoArUi- ... =copy_link

https://space-train.fr/ is the official website by the Spacetrain development team. What do you think about this technology?

Thank you for the info, David. Based on further info from Lathen and also from NOZ, here a summary.

Option 1: The so-called "Hyperloop" technology has been under discussion for some time. This involves trains in which goods initially shoot through an air-reduced tube at 1000 kilometers per hour via magnetic fields. The Emden-Leer University of Applied Sciences and the University of Oldenburg have been researching this for several years and consider to establish a "European HyperLoop Technology Center" (EUHyTec) in Lathen.

Option 2: The so-called "Spacetrain" from France. Proponents expected the system to reach more than 700 km/h in the future. The German TVE is considered suitable to become a test track - for much lower speeds, though.

Option 3: Single-container transport for cargo. This involves elevated, track-guided container transport systems for connecting ports and storage locations in the hinterland.

Insiders involved in the issues point out that all three options could also be realized jointly.

The new use of the route would have the economic advantage for the current operating company of not having to dismantle the existing TVE route for the time being.
Best regards,
jok
