JR Tokai announced on March 5 that it will begin "survey excavation" this spring to investigate the impact of tunnel construction on the surrounding area in a section of the Linear Central Shinkansen construction zone in Nagoya City. Shield machines will be used to dig "deep underground" to a depth of 40 metres or more. Construction will last until March 2026.
