Bubbles Possibly Linked to Linear Construction Tokyo's Meguro River: Party Delegation Demands Explanation
Members of the Japanese Communist Party questioned the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) about the connection between bubbles in Tokyo's Meguro River and the Linear Shinkansen construction by JR Tokai. The MLIT stated they are investigating in coordination with JR Tokai and Shinagawa Ward. Taku Yamazoe of the Japanese Communist Party urged a national investigation into the bubbles' composition.
Local residents expressed concern, criticizing the MLIT for not addressing the issue sooner and warning of potential dangers. They referenced a 2020 incident during the Tokyo Outer Ring Road construction, where bubbles were linked to subsidence. Kazuhiko Miki from the Denenchofu Residents' Association highlighted the continuous emergence of bubbles, warning it could signal a major accident like the one on the Gaikan Expressway.
The meeting included Japanese Communist Party members Akira Koike, Yoshiko Kira, and Tamio Shiraishi.
