[JP] Kanagawa Linear Maglev Station (Hashimoto)

Unread post by Miss Maglev »

Due to the the expected opening of the Linear-Maglev Central Shinkansen Line in 2027, land prices in Sagamihara and Hashimoto are rising rapidly. A new station for the Central Linear Railway will be built underground, in front of the current Hashimoto Station.

Hashimoto Station (橋本駅, Hashimoto-eki) is a major passenger interchange railway station located in the city of Sagamihara, Kanagawa, Japan. The station is operated by two railway companies: the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and the private Keio Corporation.

The establishment of a new (maglev) station in front of Hashimoto Station was announced in 2013. Based on this, Sagamihara City announced the "Regional Exchange Center Development Plan" covering approximately 120 hectares around Hashimoto Station and approximately 660 hectares around the adjacent JR Sagamihara Station (Chuo Ward, Sagamihara City). The plan sets out a policy of integrated urban development.

The station stands in the center of the eponymous Hashimoto district and is oriented from northwest to southeast. On the north side of the facility is the JR East station section with eight tracks, five of which serve passenger services. These are located at one side platform and two center platforms, all of which are covered. In addition, there are three through tracks and sidings. Above this is the reception building in the form of an equestrian station. Attached to its northern end are a supermarket and the Hashimoto shopping center. From the JR station, a covered passageway (with several stores) leads to the Keiō station on the south side of the complex. This is a three-level elevated station with two tracks on two side platforms. The upper level houses the platforms, while the middle level houses the platform barriers, access to the JR station, and more stores. The roof is supported by the side walls, there are no supporting pillars between them. There is no connection between the JR and Keiō tracks due to different track gauges. [Sources: 各駅の乗車人員. JR East, 2018, accessed 7. April 2020; 1日の駅別乗降人員. Keiō Dentetsu, 2018, accessed 7. April 2020]

In fiscal year 2018, an average of 164,974 passengers used the station daily. Of these, JR East accounted for 66,136 and Keiō Dentetsu for 98,838.

Currently, construction vehicles line up along the nearly 10-hectare site, where the Kanagawa Prefecture Station (tentative name) of the Central Linear Shinkansen Line is being built underground.

[JP] Kanagawa Linear Maglev Station (Hashimoto)

Unread post by latestnews »

The Central Japan Railway Company, or JR Tokai, is building the facility 30 meters below ground at its deepest point.

[...]
The magnetic levitation line is designed to run at a maximum speed of 500 kilometers per hour and to complete the journey from the rail hub of Shinagawa in Tokyo to Nagoya in 40 minutes.

Railway officials say workers have dug 17 meters below the surface at the site, and that measures to prevent the soil from giving way are in place.

Digging is scheduled to finish in March next year, when construction of the station itself will start.

JR Tokai official Yoshikawa Taro said the work has progressed smoothly with cooperation from the local community.

[...]

JR Tokai initially targeted 2027 as the starting date for the line, but now says that schedule is unlikely to be met.

[JP] Robots at the core of Kanagawa Linear Maglev Station (Hashimoto)

Governor Yuji Kuroiwa announced at a plenary session of the Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly on September 26 that he has established a study group consisting of administrative officials and railroad operators to promote urban development with robots at its core, regarding revitalization measures around Hashimoto Station (Midori-ku, Sagamihara City), where the Kanagawa Station (tentative name) of the Linear Central Shinkansen Line will be built. The study group was formed by the prefectural government, Sagamihara City, JR Tokai, Keio Corporation, and the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR). The prefecture took the lead and held the first meeting on the first of this month.

The area around Hashimoto Station is in the prefecture's "Sagami Robot Industry Special Zone," and the governor said, "We will use robots to improve the attractiveness of the city and support the city's goal of urban development.

[JP] Kanagawa Linear Maglev Station (Hashimoto)

Unread post by Miss Maglev »

Governor Yuji Kuroiwa visited the construction site of the planned train yard in Midori-ku, Sagamihara City and the construction site of the Kanagawa Station (tentative name) under construction near Hashimoto Station on October 1, 2010, regarding the Linear Central Shinkansen Line. After the inspection, the governor held a press conference with Mr. Shin Kaneko, president of JR Tokai, and other officials. He commented on the delay in acquiring land for the rail yard, which is expected to be delayed until the opening of the Shinagawa-Nagoya line in 2007, "Eighty percent of the land where houses are located has been approved (for sale). The rest are in forests and mountains, so acquisition is easy," he explained, stressing that the plan is "progressing smoothly. Regarding the acquisition of land by the prefectural government, Heita Kawakatsu, governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, who visited the site in September, said, "The acquisition is not progressing well. He also criticized the plan, saying that the partial opening in 2007 was not possible.
Governor Kuroiwa revealed that although only about 50% of the land planned for the rail yard as a whole had been acquired, he had heard that some people had decided to sell the land for the Linear Line even though they had not decided where to relocate. He added, "There are some stories that cannot be told just from the outside. We were able to confirm that the project will open in 2007. We must build momentum for the national project. President Kaneko also stated, "I don't think construction is being delayed because of Kanagawa Prefecture.

[JP] "Sagamihara Linear Vision" event

Unread post by latestnews »

Five companies, JR Tokai, Okumura Corporation, Tokyu Corporation, Keio Corporation, and Nihon Kokudo Kaihatsu, are holding the "Sagamihara Linear Vision" event at the construction site of the Kanagawa Station (tentative name) of the Chuo Shinkansen Line in Sagamihara City until March 4. The event is expected to attract about 2,600 visitors over the four days from January 1, and is the first large-scale event of its kind to be held at the construction site of the Chuo Shinkansen Line for local residents. This is the first large-scale event for local residents to be held at the construction site of the Central Shinkansen Line.

On the first day of the event, the governor of Kanagawa Prefecture, Yuji Kuroiwa, the mayor of Sagamihara, Kentaro Motomura, and Jiro Akama, a member of the House of Representatives, were invited as guests of honor to attend the lighting ceremony of the projection mapping.

At the beginning of the ceremony, JR Tokai President Shin Kaneko said, "Since the construction of Kanagawa Prefectural Station began in November 2007, we have steadily progressed with the cooperation of many parties involved. The construction of the station has been progressing steadily with the cooperation of many parties involved. Currently, underground excavation work is underway to build the station underground, and by using the entire site of the former Aihara Prefectural High School as a construction yard, large-scale and efficient excavation has become possible. Through this event, we hope to help deepen understanding of the Chuo Shinkansen project and construction work," he said.

Governor Kuroiwa said, "A new linear train station will be built in Sagamihara, the center of the Robot Industry Special Zone. I hope that everyone will be excited about this construction project with dreams and hopes, while confirming that we will have a wonderful city that gives a sense of a city of the future".

Okumura Gumi President Takanori Okumura, responding to questions from reporters after the ceremony, said, "Projection mapping using the slope of a construction site is something that rarely happens. People in the Sagamihara area will look forward to the opening of the Linear Central Shinkansen Line when they see this image. We are determined to proceed with the construction work so that it will be safe and not cause any inconvenience to the local people," he said.

At the event, a projection mapping of the Chuo Shinkansen project and station construction outline was projected on a large excavated slope at the construction site. The projection mapping was 15m in length and 30m in width. Large heavy machinery used in the construction is also displayed, and visitors can experience climbing on the embankment created by the excavated soil.

Kanagawa Station (tentative name) is located between Shinagawa Station and Yamanashi Station (tentative name) on the Linear Central Shinkansen Line. The construction site is located in Hashimoto 2-chome, Midori-ku, Sagamihara City. The station will be a 3-story underground structure with a depth of approximately 30 m, a length of approximately 680 m, and a maximum width of approximately 50 m. It is planned to have two platforms and four tracks.

[JP] Big concert at the linear construction site, venue is a huge excavation pit

Big concert at the linear construction site, venue is a huge excavation pit

The construction site of the Linear Central Shinkansen Line will become a concert venue. On 14 October 2023, "Railway Day", the "Sagamihara Linear Concert" was held at the construction site of the new Kanagawa Station (tentative name) of the Central Shinkansen Line in Sagamihara City. This one-day musical event was the brainchild of an employee of JR Tokai, with the aim of deepening understanding of the Linear Central Shinkansen project and its construction. Here is a report and photos of the day of music and construction of the Linear Line.

The construction site of Kanagawa Station (tentative name), the venue for the Sagamihara Linear Concert, is just outside the south exit of JR and Keio Electric Railway's Hashimoto Station in Sagamihara City. Tickets for the concert were sold online. It was on a first-come, first-served basis, and one could request one of the three sessions, which were separated by time. Admission was free.

On the day of the event, in addition to the main concert, which was held on a stage on the excavation floor of the construction site, various other events were planned, including performances and exhibition booths. This was the first time that a large-scale event for the general public had been held on the Linear Central Shinkansen since "Sagamihara Linear Vision" was held at the same location a year ago in October 2022.

When completed, the Linear Central Shinkansen Line will be able to travel between Tokyo and Osaka in just over an hour. In early October 2022, JR Tokai, the line's operator, held an event called "Sagamihara Linear Vision" at a site in Sagamihara City. The public was invited to view the Linear...
Before the concert began, JR Tokai revealed the progress of construction to the press.

Kanagawa Station (tentative name) will be a large underground structure with three underground levels at the intersection of National Route 16, centred on the site of the relocated prefectural high school. The eastern end towards Shinagawa will be connected to the first Metropolitan Area Tunnel, and the western end towards Nagoya will be connected to the second Metropolitan Area Tunnel. The intersection with National Route 16 is an unexcavated tunnel, but the majority of the work is excavation.

The underground structure to be constructed is approximately 680 m long, 50 m wide at its widest point and 30 m deep, and will have two platforms and four tracks. Excavation in the centre of the station has already reached its deepest point, and construction of the station structure began in earnest in October 2011. The concert stage has been installed in front of the excavated east end.
