Japan Railway Company holds a meeting with local residents in Takaki Village to discuss its policy on the Tenryu River construction area.
In the evening of January 2, JR Tokai held a meeting with local residents regarding a section of an elevated bridge (about 445 meters) in the Tenryu River section of the Linear Central Shinkansen in Takaki Village. According to residents who attended the meeting, JR Tokai indicated that they would like to
start construction of the viaduct in April.
Minoru Hiranaga, director of the Nagano Construction Office (Iida City), and others from JR attended the meeting to explain the outline of the construction and exchange opinions with the residents of the Ashima-kita area.
The briefing was held behind closed doors.
The explanation was given on the section of the viaduct from the Tenryu River embankment to the intersection of the Ryutoh Consistent Road, and the company said that they would like to start the construction of the lower part of the viaduct on the east side of the road in April. An access road to the construction road and a construction yard will be built, and the foundation of the bridge piers will be constructed.
The work on the lower part of the west side is scheduled to start around July next year. It was explained that
the entire viaduct will be completed by the end of fiscal year 2025, and that one-lane traffic and sidewalks will be closed for a certain period of time on the village roads in the area, including the Longdong Integrated Road.
The plan for the operation of construction vehicles was also presented. Excavated soil for the foundation of the bridge piers will be transported to the guideway manufacturing and storage yard in the weir area, and up to 35 vehicles (one way) will pass through the yard each day. A maximum of 35 vehicles (one way) pass through the yard each day, and up to 400 vehicles (the same number) on concrete pouring days, such as during foundation construction.
Residents voiced concerns about traffic congestion due to traffic restrictions during the construction period, and asked for the results of traffic volume surveys and traffic congestion forecasts, as well as questions and requests regarding the drainage of spring water generated by tunnel excavation in the adjacent Ashima North construction area.
The Tenryu River section consists of the 515-meter Tenryu River Bridge, which crosses the Tenryu River between Iida City and Takaragi Village, and the section of the elevated bridge up to the intersection of the Ryuto Consistent Road in northern Ashima. The bridge will be constructed by a joint venture (JV) of Sumitomo Mitsui Construction, Yoshikawa Construction and others. The main construction work of the bridge started in October last year.
