Kawasaki City Maglev Emergency Exit completed

Unread post by Eurorapid »

On the 30th, JR Tokai announced the completion of the Higashi-Yurigaoka Emergency Exit (Asao-ku, Kawasaki City), a shaft that will serve as a construction base for the Central Linear Railway. In urban areas, the linear line will run "deep underground," more than 40 meters below the surface. The shafts are used to lower shield machines for tunneling, and will serve as emergency exits after the opening.
According to JR Tokai, the Higashi-Yurigaoka emergency exit has a diameter of about 32 meters and a depth of about 94 meters; construction began in February 2017 and was completed on the 13th of last month. It is the fourth of 13 shafts to be completed in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Aichi. The shield machines are scheduled to be delivered around January next year.

On September 30, JR Tokai announced the completion of the Higashi-Yurigaoka emergency exit, a tunneling shaft about 94 meters below ground in Kawasaki's Asao Ward for the construction of the Central Linear Railway Shinkansen. It is said to be the first such shaft in the prefecture.
The 32-meter diameter shaft was completed in August this year. The company said it was unable to release the news due to the extension of the emergency declaration.
According to the company, the shield machine will be brought into the shaft around January next year. After holding explanatory meetings with residents, the company plans to start excavating a 4.2 km section toward Machida City, Tokyo, starting from the shaft by the end of fiscal 2010. The shafts will be used as evacuation exits for passengers after the linear line is completed. (Yoko Nakayama)
