In 2027, the 286-kilometer line between Tokyo and Nagoya will open to traffic. Some people say that high-speed rail is unnecessary due to the spread of remote work, but if anything, connecting Tokyo and Nagoya in 40 minutes will make it easier for people to work remotely, and we will enter an era where people can even change the way they work at their own discretion. In addition, the integration of the Tokyo metropolitan area, Nagoya metropolitan area, and the area in between will create a super megaregion with a population of 55 million and an economic scale of approximately 270 trillion yen. Tokyo will also benefit from access to the Chubu International Airport (Centrair).

According to an estimate by the Chubu Institute of Social and Economic Research, the economic ripple effect will be 14.82 trillion yen within 10 years of the opening of the linear line. On the other hand, there are some issues such as how to cover the huge amount of electricity, but if we change our perspective a little, we can see a bright future.
