The "Survey on the Intention to Use the Tokaido Shinkansen in Accordance with the Development of the Linear Central Shinkansen" conducted by the San-En-Nanshin Regional Collaboration Research Center was published in the Chunichi Shimbun on January 26 and February 25.

The "Survey on the Intention to Utilize the Tokaido Shinkansen in Accordance with the Development of the Central Linear Railway" conducted by the San-En-Nanshin Regional Collaboration Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) was published in the morning edition of the Chunichi Shimbun on January 26 (page 1 and 11) and the morning edition of the Chunichi Shimbun on February 25 (page 9). (hereafter referred to as "the Center") conducted by the Center.

This survey has been conducted by the Center at three-year intervals since 2014, with the aim of ascertaining local awareness of the development of areas along the Tokaido Shinkansen line in conjunction with the construction of the Linear Central Shinkansen (hereinafter referred to as "Linear"), and to provide an opportunity for future consideration.

The survey was conducted in western Kanagawa Prefecture (Seisho area: Odawara Station, Tokaido Shinkansen Line), all of Shizuoka Prefecture (eastern and Izu areas: Atami Station, Mishima Station, and Shin-Fuji Station, central area: Shizuoka Station, western area: Kakegawa Station and Hamamatsu Station), and eastern Aichi Prefecture (Higashimikawa area: Toyohashi Station). The survey was conducted on a large scale.

As a result of the survey, organizations, groups, and companies in the areas along the Tokaido Shinkansen line felt that the linear line would have an impact on a wide range of areas throughout the Tokaido region, but they did not have a specific vision of the region. It has become clear that companies expect to expand their markets and commuting areas along the line.

In particular, there is a strong demand for an increase in the number of "Hikari" type trains on the Tokaido Shinkansen, and there is a common awareness among various organizations regarding development around stations.

Furthermore, although there is not a high level of awareness of the regional relevance of the delay in the opening of the linear line at this time, there is a great deal of support for regional cooperation to study the future of the areas along the Tokaido Shinkansen line.
