Residents in the Nakamichi district of Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, have submitted a request to the prefectural government for the installation of a soundproof hood that would cover the entire area like a tunnel along the Linear Central Shinkansen Line.
JR Tokai is planning to install soundproof walls to reduce noise in some sections of the Linear Central Shinkansen in order to dissipate heat, and in other sections where it is technically difficult to construct a soundproof hood to cover the entire line, instead of a tunnel-like soundproof hood.
In response, a council of residents in the Nakamichi area of Kofu City visited the prefectural government and submitted a written request for the construction of soundproof hoods in some of the areas where soundproof walls are planned.
The letter requests that the governor urge JR Tokai to extend the soundproof hood from the current plan by 150 meters in an east-west direction, so that the entire district will be covered by the soundproof hood.
