Earthquake Countermeasures for JR Maglev (?)

An earthquake with a maximum intensity of 6 on the Japanese scale occurred off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture at around 23:36 on March 16, causing damage in many areas. The Tohoku Shinkansen "Yamabiko 223" train from Tokyo to Sendai derailed between Fukushima Station and Shiroishi Zao Station (in Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture). The derailment involved 16 of the 17 cars of the train, but fortunately none of the 78 passengers and crew were injured. Currently, an assessment of the damage is underway, but it has been confirmed that the rails are warped and the elevated bridge piers are damaged, making restoration by the end of March difficult.

The Linear Central Shinkansen (Maglev), which is currently under construction, will run levitated in a U-shaped trench (guideway) and is not expected to derail. However, the Linear Central Shinkansen will pass through 12 major faults. Will the guideways be maintained in the event of an earthquake that shifts the faults? JR Tokai has ensured earthquake resistance based on national standards.
