JR Tokai: Five Vice Presidents

On May 16, JR Tokai announced the appointment of five vice presidents, the largest number in its history. The decision will be officially made after the annual shareholders' meeting on June 23.

Shunsuke Niwa (56), Akihiko Nakamura (56), and Atsuto Mori (62) will be promoted to vice presidents. Yoshiki Suyama and Shunichi Kosuge will step down as vice presidents.

The number of directors in charge of the Linear Central Shinkansen Line will be increased by two to 14. The aim is to accelerate the response to construction work in various locations and the Shizuoka construction zone issue.

The number of directors will be 12, eight from within the company and four from outside the company. The number of internal directors will be reduced by four to speed up the decision-making process. The number of outside directors will be increased by one to strengthen corporate governance. Hiroko Kiba, a freelance newscaster, and others will be appointed. The term of office for directors will be shortened from two years to one year.

President Shin Kaneko (66) and Chairman Yasuhide Tsuge (68) will remain in office. The total number of directors and executive officers will be 51.
