Dance and you'll be invited to the Linear Linear JR Tokai calls for videos, but "too hard"?

JR Tokai, in collaboration with Benesse Corporation, is calling for photos and videos of dances representing the Linear Central Shinkansen Line. The 15 pairs of 60 people selected for the competition will be invited to experience a ride on the Yamanashi Linear Test Line.

Entries can be submitted via Twitter or Instagram. Post photos and videos using the hashtag #LinearDance. Entries from private accounts are not eligible. The experience will take place in the summer and a maximum of four people per group can take part. The deadline for applications is 14 May.

A sample video is available on both companies' Youtube channels. The video is 2 minutes 50 seconds long. The Children's Challenge character "Shimajiro" and other characters are dressed in costumes resembling linear trains and dance to express the features of the Linear Central Shinkansen, such as speed, levitation and magnetic repulsion. A video showing TOICA character 'Hiyoko' and 'Naruri-chan', the official vtuber of Shinkenzemi Junior High School, dancing has also been available since 28 April.

According to JR Tokai, the company began accepting applications on April 3, but as of April 20, the total number of confirmed applicants was 13 couples. The company said, "Was the linear dance too difficult?" However, the company is encouraging people to apply, saying that "if you are selected, you will be able to experience a ride on a linear train".
