The world's first high-speed maglev transportation system, which travels at a speed of 600 kilometers per hour, will be rolling off the production line in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong Province, on Tuesday.
As the fastest ground vehicle available so far, the system, self-developed by China, is a cutting-edge scientific and technological achievement in the field of rail transit in the world, said China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Qingdao Sifang Co., LTD., an industrialization base for manufacturing high-speed trains in China.
[...]
some cities are planning to build high-speed maglev lines, and have entered the stage of research and demonstration, including Shanghai-Hangzhou Maglev Line and Chengdu-Chongqing Maglev Line.

China Unveils Maglev Train, "Fastest Ground Vehicle Globally"
WorldReutersUpdated: July 20, 2021 1:47 pm IST
China unveiled a maglev train capable of a top speed of 600 kph on Tuesday, state media said.
[...]
The maximum speed would make the train, self-developed by China and manufactured in the coastal city of Qingdao, the fastest ground vehicle globally.
[...]
China has been using the technology for almost two decades on a very limited scale. Shanghai has a short maglev line running from one of its airports to town.
[...]
At 600 kph, it would only take 2.5 hours to travel from Beijing to Shanghai by train - a journey of more than 1,000 km (620 miles).
By comparison, the journey would take 3 hours by plane and 5.5 hours by high-speed rail.

The production of the fastest train ever built in China, with a top speed of 600km/h (373 miles per hour), shows China was becoming a “transport superpower”, according to China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC).
[...]
In January, chief engineer Liang Jianying said the train would go into service in five to 10 years.
[...]
The superfast train is central to plans announced by Beijing in July last year for a smart transport network featuring up to nine maglev lines stretching more than 1,000km (620 miles). Developing the maglev train had been listed as one of China’s key goals in building transport infrastructure.
[...]
Chinese state newspaper People‘s Daily said the new train, which has been under development since 2016, “fills a gap between aeroplanes and high-speed rail” [...]

China has unveiled its new magnetic levitation (maglev) train, touted to be among the fastest ground vehicles available globally (if you exclude record-breaking rocket cars). [...]
The new train would cover the journey between China’s capital Beijing and Shanghai in just over a couple of hours, depending on the number of stops and ability to keep its top speed. [...]
Cutting another couple of hours would truly make the flight route verge on obsolete.
So where can people jump on this super-fast train? Well, we don’t know yet. While the train has been unveiled and has been tested since June 2020, it hasn’t got a track to run on yet, although plans for such lines have been proposed.

The 600km/h high-speed maglev

The new maglev train brings rail transport in line with speed promises made by hyperloop firms.
With hyperloop technologies still in the testing phase, maglev trains currently set the operational standard for high-speed grounded public transport. In China and Japan, the fastest maglev trains currently carry passengers at 268 miles per hour (431 km/h).
As rail is also a greener mode of transport than cargo shipping and airplanes — carbon emissions from a mile of railway transport are 80 percent lower than those of the same distance traveled by car — many are predicting a resurgence in rail amid new regulations to tackle climate change.
The new maglev train in China was rolled off the production line in the city of Qingdao, in China's eastern Shandong Province. Traveling at 372 mph, it would only take 2.5 hours to travel the 620 miles (997 km) from Beijing to Shanghai with the new train. As Reuters points out, that's faster than the 3 hours it would take by plane.

Big cities in big countries can never be connected with maglev trains in the daytime unless an overnight maglev container train is developed for international use preferably by Japan, China, America and Australia between Sydney and Melbourne.
The container trains can go between freight sidings on the outskirts of Sydney and Melbourne eight hours faster than any truck earning $2,000 each subsidising daytime fare and saving 5,000,000 tonne of jet fuel per year.
It would cost $60,000,000,000 and earn 10% per annum and I think NSW, ACT and Victoria may show interest if a big transport company did.
