JR Central Announces "Sawayaka Walking Event" Featuring the Chuo Shinkansen's Gifu Station Construction Site
On December 7, 2025, JR Central will host the Sawayaka Walking Event, offering participants a chance to explore the construction site of the Chuo Shinkansen’s Gifu Station (temporary name), along with the Nakatsugawa Walking Park. The event, which begins at Minosakamoto Station and ends at Nakatsugawa Station, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for registration and until 3:00 p.m. for the final check-in.
During the walk, participants will have access to the construction site of Gifu Station, where the maglev line is under development. The construction site will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The event will also feature a visit to the Nakatsugawa region's historical Nakayama-do Rokushai Market Festival.
This special walking tour offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at one of Japan's most ambitious rail projects and allows visitors to experience local history and culture along the way.
