Hyperloop - pod design and dimensions - significant effect on tube sizing?

Unread post by Q2021 »

Hi all,

Since Hyperloop will operate in a vacuum, is it not better if capsule is designed longer instead of two or more seats in a row - essentially one seat behind the other with a few in series, still in a single capsule. Each seat may also be like a bed, people can lie, nearly, instead of sitting. In such a case, beds may be one above the other also. People anyway cannot see anything outside a window. For a couple or family, some communication facility between seats can be given.

Rationale - the tube diameter and cost might go down significantly with a longer and lower diameter pod (edited- tube), assuming fixed number of seats.(removed some words)

Thanks.

Rationale - the tube diameter and cost might go down significantly with a longer and lower diameter tube, assuming fixed number of seats, considering the tube as a pressure vessel with vacuum inside.
It may sound simple, but one of the biggest comfort issues with passenger transportation on Hyperloop is the provision of a toilet. Many young Hyperloop planners can hardly imagine that the "short high-speed ride" of, say, 20 minutes may be too long for some people, especially the elderly, to manage without a toilet.
Best regards,
jok
