Pods - powered by batteries. Any alternatives?

Unread post by Q2021 »

Hi all,

Are batteries the only and safest option for pods? Any possibility of a fire hazard, especially with, I guess, limited oxygen available? Not possible to generate power on board by any means, maybe by use of the external magnetic field?

Thanks.
Thanks & Best regards.

Energy transfer by induction, as in the Transrapid, reduces the need for a large battery for some operational requirements. However, ensuring sufficient energy ressources, especially in the event of an operational malfunction, remains a problem that does not yet appear to have been solved convincingly (safety aspect).

So, fuel cell is also not a safe enough option, as yet?
Thanks & Best regards.
