Source: Newsletter / project website at https://bwmaglev.info.The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) are announcing the availability of the ridership studies developed by the Project Sponsor, Baltimore Washington Rapid Rail (BWRR). FRA received requests for these ridership studies and is making them available to the public prior to the end of the public comment period. View the ridership studies on the project website.
The Project Sponsor conducted these studies to inform the preliminary engineering and proposed design options for the Baltimore-Washington Superconducting Magnetic Levitation (SCMAGLEV) system. FRA and the NEPA Team used information from these studies to inform the analysis described in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The ridership studies do not present new information, but may provide additional context to the analysis presented in the DEIS.
Certain information from the ridership studies has been redacted to protect BWRR’s confidential business information. This information was not relied on for the analysis in the DEIS.
The DEIS comment period is currently open, and FRA will consider all comments received prior to May 24, 2021. If you previously submitted a comment on the DEIS, and would like to comment on the ridership studies, you may submit another comment via the project website at www.bwmaglev.info.
