[JP] Pictogram Maglev

JR Tokai has applied for a trademark for a pictogram design related to the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which the company is currently constructing. The design, which was submitted to the Japan Patent Office, is believed to depict an improved model of the L0 series test vehicle, appearing as if it is floating. This pictogram might be used in station signage and other related displays.

The design is a frontal view of the vehicle, featuring a distinctive U-shaped "guideway" on the sides and bottom, representing the tracks, a feature not present in traditional Shinkansen pictograms. JR Tokai has confirmed that this design is not yet in use, and they are still deciding on how it will be utilized in the future.

Earlier this year, in March, JR Tokai announced that they would not be able to meet their goal of opening the Shinagawa-Nagoya section of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen by 2027. There is also a possibility that the vehicle's design might change before the eventual launch of the service.

[JP] 3D image of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen

A life-size linear bullet train appears! 3D digital signage installed at Nagoya Station

A digital signboard showing a 3D image of the train for the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which JR Tokai aims to open from 2034 onwards, made its debut on the first floor of the JR Gate Tower in Nagoya's Meieki Station on the 2nd. The image is made to look three-dimensional by the difference in perspective between the screen and the frame surrounding it, and it appears to be jumping out vigorously in an arc from the back right to the front left.
It is 13 metres wide and 3.5 metres high, and is mainly used to advertise events and commercial facilities in the area. However, it also broadcasts videos promoting linear motor cars about once every few minutes.

The train is the same size as the real thing, and the designers have paid attention to even the smallest details, such as the way the bottom of the train looks without its wheels. The person in charge at JR Central Building, which operates the sign, says, ‘Come and experience the Linear Chuo Shinkansen before it opens.’
