At the core of this vision is the full-scale development and operation of the Chūō Shinkansen, Japan’s next-generation maglev (magnetic levitation) railway. This high-speed line will connect Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, forming what JR Central refers to as the “Japan Central Corridor.” Designed to significantly enhance national infrastructure, the Chūō Shinkansen will establish a redundant arterial route, improving the overall resilience of Japan’s transportation network.

Beyond connecting major metropolitan areas, the maglev project is expected to generate new passenger flows around intermediate stations, contributing to regional revitalization and economic development.
