Deendayal Port Authority Adopts LIM Cargo Transportation System, Maglev in Development
The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla has successfully tested an advanced cargo transport system using Linear Induction Motor (LIM) technology developed by TuTr Hyperloop, an IIT Madras–incubated startup. This marks the first use of indigenous LIM technology in India’s port sector and is seen as a step toward future magnetic levitation (maglev)–based cargo movement within ports. Following the successful test, a broader technology demonstration is planned, with potential deployment at other Indian ports and eventual global scaling.
According to DPA Kandla, the trial demonstrates India’s capability to design and deploy high-performance electromagnetic propulsion systems for port logistics. Maglev is viewed as a long-term goal due to its contactless operation, low maintenance, and high efficiency. The project aligns with the Indian government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat initiatives aimed at self-reliance and global competitiveness.
TuTr Hyperloop’s co-founder described the test as a milestone for Indian deep-tech innovation and a natural step toward indigenous, world-class mobility solutions. DPA Kandla remains a key logistics hub on India’s west coast and recently became the fastest major Indian port to handle 125 million tonnes of cargo in FY 2025–26.

That looks like the EMS airport line in China that had to be slowed because it subsided to me.
