Nagoya Unveils “Meieki West” Maglev-Era Town Plan at Public Symposium
Nagoya City is hosting the “Linear Town Meieki West Symposium” to share its emerging urban development policy for the west side of Nagoya Station, planned in anticipation of the Chuo Shinkansen (maglev) opening. The event is categorized as a public lecture/symposium in Nakamura Ward and will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online) so anyone can join. No registration is required, and in-person attendance is capped at 200 people (first come, first served).
Nagoya City will hold the “Linear Town Meieki West Symposium” on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at TKP Garden City PREMIUM Meieki West Exit (2nd floor, “Vega” room).
Program content:
Presentation of the draft town-development policy
Keynote 1: “Reverse — Reconfiguring the ‘Back’ and ‘Front’ Structure of Nagoya Station”
Koichiro Hayashi, Associate Professor, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nagoya City University
Keynote 2: “Inside-and-Outside Town Development — Drawing on the Nagono Case”
Maya Fujita, CEO, Nagono Dana Bank Co., Ltd.
