The company started tree felling that morning, followed by site grading, with plans to install offices for environmental surveys.
The yard expansion follows a Feb. 13 agreement between Shizuoka Prefecture and JR Tokai under the prefecture’s Nature Environment Conservation Ordinance, triggered because the total yard area in Shizuoka Prefecture exceeds 5 hectares, the threshold for regulation.
